I'm Joe Visaggio. Before I worked with founders, I worked with populations where getting the body wrong had a direct operational cost — tactical athletes, combat operators, pros in sports where small margins decide the outcome.

The founders I work with aren't that different. The constraints just arrive in a different uniform.

Why this exists

The founders I work with think in systems — feedback loops, iteration cycles, measurable outputs — and they deserved that same rigor applied to their biology.

The path

How the method
actually took shape.

Not a resume. A compressed read of the twelve years between graduating a physiology program and writing the Vitruvian Method down as a system.

  1. 2012

    Applied physiology, then the military population

    Finished an M.S. in Applied Physiology focused on load management and recovery. Spent the next years working with service members and tactical athletes — populations where misreading a signal has a cost.

  2. 2016

    Private performance practice

    Moved into private coaching with professional athletes and combat-sport operators. Built the first version of what would become the Three Pillars model — forced by the fact that one-dimensional coaching could not hold up at that level.

  3. 2020

    The founder pivot

    A former athlete introduced me to a venture-backed founder. Six months in, I realized: the constraints were the same — high output, asymmetric stakes, a body being asked to run on willpower. The frame transferred directly. The roster followed.

  4. 2024

    The Vitruvian Method, formalized

    Consolidated the operating model — Mindset, Movement, Metabolism, with the elemental overlay — into a single system. Capped the roster. Wrote the protocols down.

Operating principles

Four rules, stated plainly.

These are the rules I coach to. They're not aspirational. If one of these shows up as a client's friction point, the engagement doesn't work.

Measurement over narrative

Your feelings about your biology are not the data. The data is the data. We start with measurement and we come back to it every cycle.

One operator, one accountability

A dashboard full of specialists is not a system — it's five competing priorities and no owner. I am the integration layer, and I carry the outcome.

Protocols must earn their place

If a protocol doesn't move a marker inside its expected window, it doesn't stay. No sacred cows. No legacy habits. The method is the iteration, not the tradition.

Direct over diplomatic

If the bloodwork is flagging something, I'll name it plainly. Founders didn't hire me for bedside manner — they hired me to tell them what the data is saying, when the data is worth acting on.

The people I work with aren't looking for a personal trainer or a wellness coach. They're looking for someone who can integrate their bloodwork, their wearable data, their movement patterns, and their cognitive load into one coherent picture — and tell them exactly what to do about it.
